Nickelback announce their 11th album 'Everything Under the Sun' for October 30
Lead single "Rattle the Cage" pairs Chad Kroeger with Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5, and it goes for the heavy end.

July 15, 2026Nickelback are back on the schedule. The band announced Everything Under the Sun, their eleventh studio album, for October 30 via Virgin Music Group, and dropped the lead single "Rattle the Cage" the same day. It is their first new record since 2022's Get Rollin', and their first for Virgin.
The single is the tell. "Rattle the Cage" pulls in John 5, the guitarist who spent years with Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie before taking the Mötley Crüe chair in 2022, and it lands on the heavy end of the Nickelback ledger: metallic riffing, Chad Kroeger's rasp up front, and a lead break that gives John 5 room to actually play. This is the version of the band that trades the acoustic ballad for the down-tuned chug, closer to "Burn It to the Ground" than "Photograph."
"This album has every side of the band on it," Kroeger said in the announcement. "There are songs that hit as hard as anything we've ever done, songs that take chances, and songs that remind us why we've been doing this together for so long." He called the single "the perfect way to kick the door open."
Where this sits in the run
Nickelback have spent a quarter century as the most commercially bulletproof and most critically kicked band in mainstream rock. The Alberta four-piece moved millions on "How You Remind Me" and "Photograph," ate a decade of punchlines, then watched the tide turn. The 2023 documentary Hate to Love: Nickelback reframed them as survivors, and younger rock acts started name-checking them without the wink. Get Rollin' leaned into the meat-and-potatoes rock they do best. Everything Under the Sun is being pitched as the wider swing, the record meant to carry the ballads and the bruisers on one tracklist.
Whether that range holds up is the question the album has to answer. "Rattle the Cage" makes the case for the heavy side. The twelve titles below hint that the softer Nickelback shows up too. "Technicolor Steamboat" is at least a stranger name than this band usually reaches for, which counts as a chance taken.
