Margaret Qualley's rep calls the infidelity rumors around her Jack Antonoff split “categorically untrue”

The two separated after three years married. The internet clocked it when she skipped Taylor Swift's wedding and started scrubbing his photos off her grid.

The Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff breakup went from fan theory to on-the-record this week, and her camp is not letting the messy version of the story stand. On July 10, a rep for Qualley told People, and then a run of other outlets, that the gossip pinning the split on cheating is "categorically untrue."

Before anyone official said a word, the internet did its usual forensics. Qualley, 31, was a no-show at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, an event Antonoff was practically born to attend, and he reportedly turned up without her. Around the same time, fans clocked that some of the couple's photos had quietly vanished from her Instagram. By the time the separation got confirmed a couple of days earlier, the amateur detectives had basically already filed their report.

Then came the part her team actually wanted on the record. Here is the statement in full, so nobody has to play telephone with it:

"The narratives running in the press about Margaret and Jack are categorically untrue. There are no trust issues. There was no infidelity or anything outside of respect and partnership in this relationship. They have deep love and care for one another. There are only two people in this marriage, and the sources who are talking to the press and commenting on their relationship are not people who know them. Please respect their privacy."

The "narratives" getting swatted down here are the trust-issues-and-infidelity storyline that took hold the second the split leaked. Worth being clear about what that is: a rumor, not a reported fact. BCN isn't going to repeat an accusation as if it happened, and neither, for what it's worth, is Qualley's team. The whole thrust of the statement is that whoever is feeding those lines to reporters doesn't actually know the couple.

For the timeline nerds, this was not a whirlwind. Qualley and Antonoff started dating in 2021, got engaged in 2022, and married on Long Beach Island, New Jersey in 2023. Antonoff, 42, is the Bleachers frontman and the producer whose fingerprints are on a large chunk of modern pop. Qualley is coming off one of the best stretches of her career. Three years married, roughly four together, then this.

And because the internet keeps every receipt whether you asked it to or not, an old Antonoff Today show interview about how weddings make him deeply uncomfortable promptly resurfaced, which fans found either funny or ominous depending on their mood.

For now the only official word is the denial and the request that came stapled to it. Two people, one marriage, everybody else kindly back off.
