Somewhere on the great American ranking of Fourth of July plans, "get married at Madison Square Garden in front of a thousand people" and "go on a boat" sit at opposite ends. Kendall Jenner picked the boat.

While Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were tying the knot across the country in New York, Jenner spent the holiday weekend at her Idaho lake house with her rumored boyfriend Jacob Elordi and her longtime friends Justin and Hailey Bieber, according to TMZ, which published footage of the group climbing into a speedboat at the dock.

What actually happened

Not much, and that is sort of the appeal. TMZ's clip shows the four of them loading into the boat and heading out onto the water in full holiday-weekend mode. E! News reported the getaway took place at Jenner's vacation home in Idaho, in the same rustic, golf-and-lake enclave (Gozzer Ranch) where a certain tier of celebrity goes specifically to not be photographed. The cameras found them anyway.

The Elordi of it all

The reason anyone is zooming in on a boat: Jenner and Elordi. The two have been fueling dating rumors since the spring, when fans reported spotting them together at Coachella, and they have since been photographed on trips to Hawaii, Japan and Australia, per Reality Tea. Neither has said a word about it publicly, which in Kendall Jenner terms is basically a press release. A weekend at her own lake house with her inner circle reads as one more entry on the "yes, this is a thing" tally, even if the label stays officially unconfirmed.

The Bieber factor

Justin and Hailey Bieber rounding out the trip is less of a plot twist. Jenner and Justin Bieber have run in the same group for years, and Hailey is one of her closest friends. Bieber also got his own solo lake moment out of the weekend, separately photographed paddleboarding, which is the most Idaho sentence ever written about a pop star.

On a weekend when the entire entertainment internet pointed itself at one wedding, four of the most photographed people alive went to a lake and let the paparazzi come to them.
