Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO Are Getting Divorced, and They Keep Going Online to Prove They Still Like Each Other
A May filing, a podcast episode called "The Divorce," a YouTube vlog, and a co-parenting plan that is somehow still on.

June 26, 2026Most celebrity divorces arrive as a two-line statement about privacy and a request for space. Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO gave us a YouTube vlog, a podcast episode, and a phone call that ends with "Love you, bye." This is the friendliest breakup currently happening in public, and they are both narrating it themselves.
Here is what is actually on the record.
The filing
Jelly Roll, legal name Jason DeFord, filed for divorce from Bunnie XO in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18. He is 41. The two had been married nearly a decade. According to the petition, as reported by E! News and NBC News, the marriage date is listed as August 30, 2016, and the date of separation as May 9, 2026, a little over a week before the paperwork went in.
So the timeline is tight: separate in early May, file by mid May, and the news lands publicly around mid June. No drawn-out leak, no months of speculation. By celebrity standards that is practically efficient.
Bunnie's version
Bunnie XO did not let the story get told for her. On June 18 she dropped an episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast titled, with zero subtlety, "The Divorce," and spent close to an hour on it.
Her main correction to the early coverage: it was not mutual. As reported by Billboard and Today, Bunnie said the split followed a Mother's Day falling out after more than a year of bad communication. She packed her bags and left, and in the heat of it she told him to file. He did exactly what she asked. She framed the filing as something that happened out of anger and frustration, not a calm joint decision.
She also said the two of them are ending things on, in her words per Today's reporting, the best possible terms you could have a divorce on. The assets, including the dream house the two had been building, were already split amicably.
The baby is still happening
This is the part that makes the whole thing genuinely unusual. Bunnie and Jelly Roll had been trying to have a child together, and per her podcast comments reported by Billboard, that plan is still on. They intend to co-parent a baby they are still planning to have, divorce or no divorce.
"Jay has been so great about us still having a baby together, and he wants the same thing," Bunnie said, according to Billboard.
"Plot twist"
Jelly Roll's contribution to the press cycle was a YouTube video he called "The Divorce Vlog," teasing fans with the promise of hot gossip about the breakup before pulling the rug.
"Yeah, y'all thought we were gonna hate each other," he said to the camera, per TMZ and E! News, before adding as Bunnie laughed, "Plot twist b----es."
Then he called her up on camera, told fans to go listen to her podcast for the full story, and signed off the call with "Love you, baby." Her reply: "Love you, bye." If you were waiting for the messy part, that was it.
The reported why
On the reason behind the split, the reporting is thinner and worth flagging as such. Coverage from E! News and Yahoo cites sources saying the divorce was not about cheating or scandal, and one report ties it to Bunnie's renewed interest in her past work in the adult-entertainment industry, a career she has never hidden and has spoken about openly herself. Treat that as a single-sourced claim about motive rather than a settled fact. The people closest to it, Bunnie and Jelly Roll, have stuck to the communication-breakdown framing in their own words.
So where does that leave it
A filed divorce, an amicable asset split, a shared baby plan still in motion, and two people who keep going on the internet specifically to insist they do not hate each other. It is a breakup that refuses to behave like one. Whether the friendliness holds once the cameras are off is the only open question, and for now they are answering it the way they answer everything else: loudly, and together.
